About this event

The gathering of government, business and civil society representatives for the landmark Stockholm +50 summit creates an excellent opportunity to bring together biodiversity practitioners and sustainability leaders from business.

We invite you to join us for a peer-to-peer discussion where companies can share solutions and challenges on taking action on biodiversity, and how these connect to other sustainability efforts on climate, forests, freshwater and social issues. The conversation will be held under Chatham House rules. The discussion sessions will be followed by a networking cocktail event.

There is significant momentum globally on setting biodiversity targets for companies and even on indicators and materiality assessments. Yet we cannot wait for these processes to be finalised before we ramp up action in the real world.

We plan for two roundtable dialogues, covering different aspects of this work:

1. Technical experts working on implementing a robust strategy into the business. This group will come together around the following questions:

  • How do we navigate the nexus between biodiversity, water, climate and human rights and ensure we work in a collaborative way within our businesses?
  • How engage purchasing managers and raw material producers across supply chains for impact on the ground?
  • How might we start to look at verified biodiversity outcomes of actions taken?

2. Senior sustainability managers or similar function with a strategic responsibility across sustainability topics.

  • How do we most effectively embed the need to act on biodiversity at the highest level of the organisation?
  • How might we put the conditions in place to drive sustainability initiatives in a holistic way, avoiding biodiversity becoming ‘one more thing’ to act on?
  • How might we most effectively work with suppliers to achieve full traceability to source, navigating dilemmas around full transparency and competition concerns?

To ensure meaningful dialogue that can help accelerate the work on biodiversity in all our organisations, we kindly ask that you carefully consider the best representatives to participate in these dialogues within your organisation, and forward this invitation to them.

We would love to welcome you in person, but a virtual participation is also possible. Please indicate your preference on the next page.

Whether you can join us or not we encourage business representatives to take the Stockholm +50 Value Chain Transformation Survey at wbcsd.typeform.com/S50survey to contribute to the transition towards resilient and sustainable value chains.
